With the addition of Katie A. Shepherd to our firm, Thompson Miller & Simpson is proud to introduce a Government Relations practice.

In this role, she provided legal and administrative counsel to the Chief Justice. She also worked extensively with judges and circuit clerks across the Commonwealth and with elected officials and staff in the legislative and executive branches on matters of concern to the court system.

Katie is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, where she serves on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and on the planning committees for the Annual Convention, Kentucky Law Update, and New Lawyer Program. In her prior role she provided support to the Supreme Court Rules Committee, the Civil Justice Reform Commission, the Business Court Docket Advisory Committee, the Judicial Workload Assessment Committee, and the Judicial Mental Health Commission. She previously served as a member of the Capital Planning Advisory Board, the Jefferson County Community Engagement Project Planning Committee, the Human Trafficking Task Force and as a parent representative on the School-Based Decision Making Council for the School for the Creative and Performing Arts at Bluegrass.

These experiences give Katie a unique perspective, allowing her to successfully advise and represent the interests of Thompson Miller & Simpson clients in Frankfort and beyond.
