Attorneys with the firm have successfully defended hundreds of automotive product liability lawsuits involving a wide variety of allegations of product defect, including vehicle roll-overs, electrical fires, air bag function, unexpected park-to-reverse movements, sudden vehicle acceleration, ineffective restraints, and vehicle crashworthiness. Some of these cases involve individual claims, and others are class actions.In defending these cases, our attorneys work closely with in-house engineers and outside engineering consultants to thoroughly understand the technical aspects of the case, so as to be able to appreciate and explain to the court or jury the manufacturing process at issue or the basis for the particular product design, and in some cases to articulate why product failure resulted from product misuse. Most of these cases involve claims of wrongful death or serious personal injury, including such catastrophic injuries as quadriplegia, paraplegia, and brain damage.

In addition to pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, the firm has extensive experience in the field of asbestos litigation. Thompson Miller & Simpson attorneys have defended dozens of asbestos lawsuits, some of which have involved hundreds of individual plaintiffs, and the firm currently serves as national counsel for one international corporation, overseeing the defense of all of its asbestos cases throughout the United States.
